Ive mowed twice, trees are advancing well and are almost blocking my neighbors house. BL trees are getting leaves and they're usually one of the last ones to leaf out.

Can anyone spot the grouse in the center of the frame? This one came into the yard while I was relaxing on the deck.

The snow in the woods is gone except in shaded places, the beaver ponds are open, rivers are flowing, grouse are drumming and moving around a lot, and there are a lot of waterfowl around.

Well. I have to mow the lawn today. It's very lush green, and long.

I have mowed ours about three times already. Did some de-thatching as well. The whole yard needs doing but I am only doing bits and pieces as I have time. Next year will be a big push on de-thatching.

Meanwhile, back at the house, 250 miles south of our old homestead and cabin…

    Ruffed grouse.

Years ago (over 30) had one that would follow you around the yard.

Backwoods Savage That tree looks like it might be loaded this year.
Are you worried about the temps on Wednesday night?
My apple blossoms aren't quite that far along yet, so I might be ok.

We had a black bear tear down a bird feeder on the front porch. The wife still refuses to take the other one down.:doh:

My crab apple is still right at the beginning of the leafing stage. I think it will be fine with the hard frost this morning :D

Yes. Temp is 24 right now. Lots of apple trees are in full blossom now. Mine were not yet open but I did not get a chance to check them yesterday.

Even colder this morning and have at least another morning of frost according to the local news. But frost-free date isn't until the end of May, and all my more tender plants seem to know it.
