Started on Saturday and hung up the first tree.:emb:

Partial paying job taking down at least six red maples at one of my storage locations. First tree on the ground and slowly getting it cut up. 201 almost finished the limbing today. Should get it cut up next time. Wood will get processed on site and maybe 75 % stacked there in the shed. IMG_4352.JPG IMG_4353.JPG IMG_4357.JPG IMG_4355.JPG IMG_4356.JPG IMG_4354.JPG Score should yield around four cord.

Looking good. Nice work. What length do you usually cut the logs ?

16" is standard using a folding rule and chalk to mark cuts. Nice when i have a full tree to do so as 75% of my wood is scrounged roadside or from CL/FBM.

This has been planned for sometime once the leaves fell. He wanted to take down the four on the side since last year. Had a good CL/FBM score come in i would postpone. I can work this at my convenience too so wiggle room should another score come my way.

I need four face cord to finish filling the existing shed and another four cords for the new addition that will replace the badly sagging right side which was not part of the original build. Hoping all the trees make nice straight splits for bundle wood. If not general cordage always a good thing too.

Nice to be able to work it on your own schedule. It looks fairly straight-grained from here. There are good red maples and bad ones, and that's no open grown sprawling yard tree so hopefully it's fine. Lots of work but lots of wood, and not having to haul it far for storage is an added bonus.

Sooo, you're getting paid to cut down the trees on his property that you are going to store them at and then sell for $$!?

Whatever it takes to keep the house warm. I use to do the same thing when I worked 45 minutes away. I would see the parks dept cutting trees down and I would fill up my Subaru Outback to its limits.
