A coworker’s father had some trees taken down this past week and wants all the wood to disappear. One huge red oak, a huge white oak, a large tulip poplar, a smaller sugar maple and a black birch. The tree service left quite a few pieces already cut roughly to stove length. I swung in just now and noodled 3 white oak rounds into quarters, filling my small truck. Several other people have been picking away at it too, and one coworker with a mill was slabbing the lower trunk section on site with his MS661. I’m hoping I can get at least one more load of oak later this week.
I’m running out of space as it is anyway, so as nice as this is (and close to home, less than 10 minutes) it doesn’t really pain me that I won’t be bringing home load after heaping load. Whatever I get is just a bonus.
I’m hoping so, but it all hinges on how motivated the other hoarders are. I guess several trailer loads have already been hauled off. With any luck somebody will leave the big rounds for me
Holy cow that's a lotta wood. I'd be all over the BB, SM & TP of course. The inconsistent sizing would bug the crap out of my OCD lengths. I hear ya on the space factor. Redoing part of my storage and will have room for another five or so cords.
That white oak looks great. I was getting annoyed with all the large white oak rounds I have. Then had to deal with 2 hickorys in a row. I'll never complain about white oak again.
if you join tractor supply rewards club they give free trailer rentals if you spend a few bucks there
Dang, that's a nice pile of wood. Wish you had more room. I'd love to have that WO & RO & SM & BB...... I know, save some for someone else...
